Family Services York Region requires that all students be available a minimum of 500 onsite placement hours, approximately 3 days per week, 21 hours per week. 2 evenings are required. The placements run from September to April, with some exceptions for May to December. There is more flexibility for volunteers.
Placements are typically a hybrid of in person and virtual service delivery. As such, students are expected to practice remotely from a private and confidential space with access to internet and a cell phone, as well as ine one of our 3 office locations (Newmarket, Georgina or Richmond Hill). Our students are placed primarily according to the location of their supervisor and available office space. Some travel between offices will be required.
Student placement positions are usually filled by mid-May each year, but all spots could be filled much earlier. No paid internships are available.
Vulnerable Sector checks are required for all student placements.
