What We Do
We provide counselling and community support services to help individuals, couples, families and groups manage their daily lives.
Professional, Caring, Supportive
Accredited through the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, FSYR is committed to excellence in community outreach support and counselling for children, youth, adults and their families. All services seek to promote the fullest development of the individual. We believe in family in all its diversity.
Service Delivery Philosophy
FSYR provides services through engaging individuals, couples, families and groups in a client-centered, goal-focused change process. Counselling services emphasize identifying and building strengths, managing symptoms, and resolving emotional conflicts across contexts (such as home, school, work and in the community).Committed to diversity and inclusivity, respecting the values and beliefs of clients is paramount in the therapeutic process. Clients are also empowered to actively participate in decision making through collaborate assessment and service planning, as well as evidence-based Feedback Informed Therapy when applicable.
Accessible and Affordable
Counselling services are available at our 3 office locations across York Region as well as virtually, by phone or video counselling. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale according to the individual’s income and ability to pay. A portion of the fee may be covered by subsidy or insurance. No one is turned away because of inability to pay. Proof of income may be required to ensure equity and fairness to those we serve.
Celebrating Diversity
We are an inclusive, diverse organization. Our professional staff offer services in 11 languages. French language services are available through our partnership with Centre Francophone. Translation services are also available in some of our programs. All services are 2SLGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two Spirit, Queer) Positive. FSYR is the proud host and lead agency for the York Rainbow Support Network, whose vision is to create A Face, A Space and A Place for the 2SLGBTQ+ Communities in York Region.
