CHILD CARE WORKER​​​​​

Location: Markham
Start Date: September 13, 2018
When: 1 Night Per Week, 6:30pm – 8:30pm
​F​amily Services York Region is a non-profit social service agency operating in Richmond Hill, Markham, Newmarket and Georgina.​​

  1. Provide quality childcare services for the South Asian Parenting Group beginning September 13 through December 13, 2018
  2. Supervise children and deliver age-appropriate activities as required.
  3. Maintain a respectful and positive atmosphere in the childcare room.
  4. Ability to work independently and with other Group Services Staff. 
  5. ​​Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be flexible and show commitment to providing the best possible care and environment for the children.

  1. A diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE). 
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. An energetic, enthusiastic, warm and patient personality.
  4. High level of professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy. 
  5. A satisfactory current vulnerable sector screening (Police Check). 
  6. Fluency in English and Tamil is an asset. 
  7. Must enjoy working with children.

COUNSELLOR POSITION​

Location: Richmond Hill/Newmarket
When: 3 Days Per Week

Opportunity to work with a dynamic counselling team providing counselling services to individuals, couples and families as well as youth involved with the youth justice system. This position will require working a minimum of two evenings and attending agency meetings. Travel to other locations will be required. Hours and location of work to be determined.

  1. ​A Masters in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related discipline. Priority will be given to candidates with a minimum of five years post masters experience. 
  2. Registration or eligibility with regulatory colleges required.
  3. Extensive knowledge of various individual, couple, family and group intervention modalities including family therapy, CBT, brief solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing and grief counselling among others. 
  4. Demonstrated experience in serving at-risk youth/youth in conflict with the law, mandated clients and diverse communities/client needs (including the LGBTTQ community). 
  5. Fluency in second language is an asset. 
  6. An energetic and welcoming personality with ability to be versatile, flexible and a team player. 
  7. A satisfactory current vulnerable sector screening (Police Check).
