Parenting for Life is a 6 week program that helps parents learn more positive ways to think about and act on their child’s behaviour, how to communicate with their child more effectively, examination of parenting plans, goals and styles of parenting, the fundamentals of a healthy family, learn positive approaches to discipline, how to set limits and boundaries, discussion of topics of interest to parents (self-esteem, peer pressure, social skills, etc.), and generally exploring many other strategies to enhance the parent child relationship.
Parenting the Strong Willed Child
Parenting the Strong Willed Child is a four week program that assists parents in gaining a clearer, more positive perspective on parenting a challenging child. Participants will gain a greater understanding of their child’s character traits, and learn skills to diminish conflict in the home and learn skills and strategies to enhance the parent-child relationship. This might be a program of consideration for you if your child displays at least three of the following behaviours: 1. Is argumentative frequently; 2. Is often tense; 3. Angers easily; 4. Worries about unnecessary concerns; 5. Is demanding and stubborn, 6. Has trouble following rules; 7. Shows defiance; 8. Is disrespectful to others; 9. Initiates conflict within the family; and 10. Is disruptive during family interactions
Positive Parenting Program
(Triple P) for Children (0-12) and Teens
The Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) for children (0-12) and the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) for Teens, is a unique multi-level family intervention program for the prevention and treatment of behavioral and emotional problems in children. You’ll learn about effective parenting strategies, how to promote your child’s development, how to manage common child behaviour problems, principles to help you deal with almost any situation that might arise. Groups are run by an accredited Triple P practitioners. The program is eight weeks in length, consisting of five two-hour group sessions (once a week) and three telephone interview sessions (15 – 30 minutes), addressing your individual progress.

Farsi Group for Parents of Teens
The Farsi Group for Parents of Teens is a nine week group for parents of teens in Farsi. This program is held in collaboration with Addiction Services and Catholic Community Services. Topics addressed in the group include: the role of parents in teenage years, time management, balancing work and family, stress management, anger management conflict resolution, and positive parenting skills.
